BDO Korea and South Pole Join Forces to Drive Sustainable Transformation in Korea

Seoul, South Korea, 22 September 2023 — BDO Korea, a leading accounting firm specialising in ESG consulting services, and South Pole, a leading global sustainability solutions provider, are proud to announce their strategic partnership aimed at catalysing sustainability action in the Korean market to combat climate change. The memorandum of understanding, inked in July 2023, brings together two industry leaders to offer comprehensive advisory services to public and private organisations in Korea to help them map out climate action strategies.

This partnership builds on the synergies between South Pole's expertise in sustainability advisory and carbon markets and BDO Korea's long-standing reputation as a trusted tax, accounting, and financial transaction adviser to Korean businesses.

Through South Pole's catalogue of climate solutions and global team of sustainability consultants, BDO Korea will offer their clients a full suite of decarbonisation services. These will include best-in-class greenhouse gas accounting, customised decarbonization roadmaps, carbon market access, renewable energy strategies and products, along with guidance on navigating complex climate regulations. BDO Korea's in-depth understanding of Korean businesses and their financial needs will ensure that these services are tailored to meet the specific requirements of Korean organisations.

Mr. John Davis, Commercial Director, Asia Pacific at South Pole, says, "We are very excited to partner with BDO Korea to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time - climate change. South Pole's expertise in sustainability solutions aligns perfectly with BDO Korea's commitment to guiding Korean businesses towards a more sustainable future. Together, we aim to drive meaningful change and empower organizations in Korea and beyond to embrace sustainability as a core part of their operations."

Mr. Kilbae Yoon, Managing Partner of BDO Korea said, “Korean companies are experiencing challenges in reporting Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) because they do not have expert knowledge to measure the financial impacts of climate change. Based on this partnership, we will be able to give Korean companies actual help with sustainability disclosure by introducing best practices of South Pole’s climate change-related solutions."
